Get the line right first, and the whole job follows.
A stringline is the first thing that goes in on site and the last thing anyone thanks. You peg it out, pull it tight, and every post, block and paver after it is laid to that line. Nobody argues with the string.
Why that name
Because a quote is the same thing. Get it right, measured and priced off what the work takes you and agreed with the customer before anyone lifts a brush, and the schedule, the timesheets and the invoice all hang off it. Get it wrong and you spend the rest of the job pulling everything back into line by hand.
So Stringline starts at the tape measure. The job, the hours and the invoice are all built from what you measured and what you priced it at.
Who's behind it
A small team in New Zealand who have spent a long time building software for people who work outdoors and don't have a spare hand for it. It started with painters, because painters measure everything and price by the square metre, which is the habit the whole product is built around. Gib stoppers, fencers, heat pump installers and flooring layers have measure-ups of their own now, and tilers, plumbers, electricians, builders and landscapers quote on the general one. If you price a job by measuring it, counting what goes in it, or both, it's for you.
What Stringline leaves alone
Your accounts stay in Xero, and Stringline syncs with it both ways rather than trying to replace it. Your leads and your customers stay in your account, and we never market to them.
Your rates are yours.
We don't ship a national rate book. Your minutes per square metre are what your crew does, and Stringline's job is to help you find out what that number really is.
Nothing moves on its own.
When the clock says a rate is out, Stringline tells you and offers to move it. You decide whether it moves.
One hand, in a van.
Every screen has to work with a thumb on a phone in a driveway. If it needs a desk, it's not finished.
Straight numbers.
One price for everyone, and every feature in it. What's built and what isn't is written down on this site, and we keep it current.
We'd rather hear it from you.
